Marriage records are open to the public. Marriage records are filed in the county where the license was issued, which would be the county of residence. Requests must be for persons that Applied for the license in St. Joseph County. Marriage records for St. Joseph County start with the year 1832.

You can obtain a certified copy of a marriage license by filling out the Marriage Certificate (After Marriage) Request Form (PDF) and mailing it to the St. Joseph County Clerk with the appropriate fee or bringing it in person with the appropriate fee.

Fees

Effective January 1, 2021, vital record fees are $20 for the first copy and $10 for each additional copy

• $20.00 for the first copy of a marriage certificate.
• $10.00 for each subsequent copy of the same record.
